Digital Preservation: More than just backing stuff up
Speaker(s)
Session Description
Digital preservation is an important topic for libraries, but many librarians and IT staff don't have a full view of what digital preservation looks like in practice. Jason Eiseman (Yale Law LIbrary) and Leah Prescott (Georgetown Law Library) will look at how their libraries have implemented digital preservation practices including considerations such as deciding what to preserve, packaging various types of digital objects, storage, permissions, et al.
They will also discuss how Yale has implemented Preservica as a digital preservation tool, and how LIPA will transition the Chesapeake Project into Preservica and administer it going forward.
