  • Takeaway #1: Identify current trends in the law involving blockchain and related technologies
  • Takeaway #2: Explain the pros and cons of these new technologies on the practice of law
  • Takeaway #3: Assess the technologies behind these tools and their implications for efficiency and security
  • Content and goals: We heard a lot about blockchain in 2017, but that's just one of several cryptotechologies that will have a profound impact on the practice of law in the near future. In this session, we will define the basics of distributed ledger technologies and show how they work. We will discuss trends in technology and the law resulting from implementing new services using blockchain and related technologies, including smart transactions, smart wills, and more. Finally, we will showcase the technology behind these tools.  Debbie will present a version of this at AALL 2018.
